Earthy Grey with Soft Brown and Green Tonal Effects
Create understated stoneware surfaces with BOTZ Basalt Grey Stoneware Glaze. This grey glaze develops soft lighter effects and shifts through brownish-grey and greenish-grey tones depending on the firing temperature, giving pottery a natural, mineral-like appearance.
Apply 2–3 coats, with BOTZ recommending 3 coats for the preferred result. Fire between 1220°C and 1280°C with a 30-minute soak, with the glaze described as most attractive from 1250°C upwards. At 1220°C it produces a brownish-grey silk-matt surface with very fine effects; at 1250°C a brownish-grey with lighter effects; and at 1280°C a softer greenish-grey with stronger effects. BOTZ describes the glaze as silk-matt in the application notes while the product properties classify it as satin-glossy.
