Quick ideas and techniques using Silk Clay®
Silk Clay® is a soft, lightweight modelling compound that’s ideal for kids’ crafts, classroom projects and creative making at home. It’s designed to stick to itself and build shapes easily without feeling overly sticky, which makes it a great choice for beginners and younger makers who want quick, satisfying results.
Once shaped, Silk Clay® dries at room temperature and forms a smooth, slightly foam-like surface. Finished pieces dry to a firm yet slightly flexible consistency, helping creations last longer than many traditional air-dry clays. It’s brilliant for little figures and models, decorations, jewellery components, mini toppers, magnets and mixed-media craft projects.
Because it’s so easy to mould and shape, Silk Clay® works well for family craft sessions, craft clubs and school use. It’s also handy for adding details to projects—think small embellishments, lettering, textured pieces or colour accents. If the clay starts to feel a little firm during use, gentle kneading usually helps bring it back to a workable texture.
Tip: Keep unused Silk Clay® sealed in its container between sessions to help it stay soft for longer. Drying time can vary depending on thickness and room conditions.
